Becca's Run
I ran Becca's Run today, a fun neighborhood 5K that Melanie and I ran for the first time last year. Although it was cold and rainy, Melanie, her boyfriend Eric, Adam, and I all toughed it out, and I suprised myself with the result--according to the time on the clock when I crossed the finish line, I was at 23:47, although my official results say 23:58.

Either way, that's a good 2 minutes or so faster than the times I was running this spring, and I didn't even feel that exhausted when I was done. But, more important than encouraging me in my training, my time on this run also aided my fundraising efforts. Thanks to Adam and his marathon training challenge, my time earned an extra $75 for my charities [see my post on August 16 titled "New Challenges"].
Finally, I was really thankful to my three co-runners for sticking around through the wind and rain for the awards ceremony--I got second place among the women in my age group (19-34) and won a free massage, which I plan to save for after the marathon :)
